The TC2 is a handloom that digitally controls every thread in the warp independently. This workshop will present methods using photoshop to create patterns, imagery and color in the woven matrix on a handloom.  As a special event to kick start the opening of our Digital Leaving Lab, Praxis invites instructor Cathryn Amidei to teach this course on a Tc2 shipped to Cleveland from North Carolina. Cathryn has been studying and weaving Jacquard for 15+ years. She has travelled extensively, studying and teaching on the TC2. She spent a year living in Norway working and walking at Tronrud Engineering Headquarters: the Digital Weaving Norway production facility. She owns a TC2 and provides technical support to Artists and Universities in North America when they purchase the loom and after.
  • Instructor: Jessica Pinsky Saturday/Sunday August 18 & 19th, 9:30-4pm In this course, learn to screen print on fabric! Using photo emulsion, we will coat and “expose” our own designs onto screens at our neighborhood print shop, Ink House, a satellite of Zygote Press. Students will then bring their exposed screens to Praxis and learn how to mix thickened MX Reactive dye to pass through the screen. This is a different process than screen printing on paper, as screen printing ink sits on top of the paper surface while dye bonds directly with the cloth fibers.
